Integrating a Blacklist Alliance Account in PropertyRadar

What is Blacklist Alliance

Blacklist Alliance is a service that helps businesses comply with telemarketing regulations by providing a database of phone numbers flagged for various reasons. These reasons include being listed on federal, state, or company-specific Do Not Call (DNC) lists, as well as numbers associated with known litigators. By scrubbing phone lists against the Blacklist Alliance database, users can avoid contacting restricted or troublesome numbers, thereby reducing legal risks and improving the efficiency of their marketing efforts.

What is the difference between Blacklist Alliance and DNC data?

While both Blacklist Alliance and DNC data serve the purpose of ensuring compliance with telemarketing laws, they do so in different ways:

  • Blacklist Alliance: This service includes phone numbers flagged for being associated with known litigators or belonging to restricted lists like federal, state, and company-specific DNC lists. It provides feedback from users and attorneys, and is built off of numbers and emails disclosed in court cases. It helps to avoid legal risks that are broader than just telemarketing laws.

  • DNC Data: This primarily includes phone numbers that are listed on the National Do Not Call registry, which restricts telemarketing calls to these numbers. The focus is more on compliance with federal telemarketing rules than on avoiding litigators.

Registering for a Blacklist Alliance Account

  1. Visit the Blacklist Alliance website
    Navigate to their webpage to sign up for the service.

  2. Talk to Sales Rep: Set up free demo with a Blacklist Alliance sales representative to create your account.

  3. Complete registration: Follow the steps provided by the sales representative to finish setting up your account.

Accessing the Blacklist Alliance API Key

You need an API key from Blacklist Alliance to integrate your BLA account into PropertyRadar. Here is how to access your Blacklist Alliance API Key.

  1. Log into your Blacklist Alliance account:

  2. Navigate to API settings: From your account dashboard, click on View Account Details.

  3. Generate API key: Click to expand your subscription details and copy your API Key

Integrating your Blacklist Alliance Account into PropertyRadar

  1. Click the 👤 silhouette icon in the top right to access the Main Menu

  2. Select Account Settings.

  3. Scroll down to Telemarketing Settings and locate the section for Blacklist Alliance integration

  4. Paste the API key you copied from your Blacklist Alliance account and click Update to establish the connection between PropertyRadar and Blacklist Alliance.

Scrubbing a List against BlackList Alliance

Use this process to scrub your saved list against the Blacklist Alliance database and identify phone numbers that appear on Federal or State Do Not Call (DNC) lists, have opted out, or are associated with known litigators.
Matching numbers will be flagged automatically within your list.

  1. Open the My Lists Tab.

  2. Open the list that contains the phone numbers you want to scrub.

  3. Unlock the phone numbers on the list, if you haven't unlocked them already.

  4. Click the Actions button and choose Scrub with Blacklist Alliance from the dropdown.

  5. Choose whether to scrub all numbers or only active numbers. Scrubbing only active numbers is recommended to help reduce API usage and associated costs.

  6. Click to initiate the scrubbing process.

  7. Once the scrub is complete, a report will be displayed showing how many numbers are:

    • Blacklisted

    • Federal Do Not Call

    • State Do Not Call

    • Opted-out

    • Rejected due to SAN (Subscription Account Number) coverage

    These statuses will also be automatically updated for each phone number.

Where are BlackList Alliance Phone Statuses Displayed?

If a phone number is not active due a Blacklist Alliance scrub, or for another reason, a ⚠️ yellow icon will appear next to it throughout the app.

To view the reason the number is not active:

  • Hover over the ⚠️ yellow icon to display a tooltip that explains the status of the phone number.

  • One possible reason is that the number is Blacklisted based on a Blacklist Alliance scrub—but it may also be flagged as disconnected, wrong person, DNC, or another non-active status.

This phone status indicator appears in various sections of the app where phone numbers are displayed, so you can quickly identify restricted numbers before making calls or sending messages.

  • List Details:

    • Users can view phone status indicators by clicking the 📞 phone icon on the List Details page of any saved list.

  • Property Profile:

    • Phone status is displayed next to contact information on the Overview or Contact Card in the Property Profile.

Remember to Hover over the ⚠️ yellow icon to display a tooltip that explains the status of the phone number.
